Land Cruiser FJ40
This page contains information or tips about the 1972 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40.
The journey began in May 2010 when I purchased a 1972 Land Cruiser FJ40 from the prior owner in Jacksonville, Florida. A friend trailered it back to my home in Lake Butler and helped me do a few basics to make it better. I thought I had forgotten how to drive a manual after a few decades but apparently something in the transmission needed fixing so the initial jerky backups and starts weren’t all my fault.
I finally sent it in for a full restoration (within reason) to Amazonia 4x4 as the pandemic started and it was returned to me a couple of years later in 2024 looking all shiny and new… and running more smoothly… and it had air condition … and to missing radio replaced with something much better!
BEFORE 2010 AFTER 2024
I’m not much of a gear head & can’t weld, so I’m limited to doing small scale projects with my FJ40. I’m good with simple electronics, but much more capable in the wash/wax department.
Though not a Car Show type, some of my friends are and they made it rather clear that I was to bring my FJ40 to the 4th of July Car Show. So now I’m working up stuff for that. I thought a replica Window Sticker would be a nice addition, so I made one. As luck would have it, another CruiserHead about an hour away still had his sticker for an FJ purchased just a couple months after mine, also from Westside Toyota. So mine is modeled after what he had. Toyota’s advertisement from 1971. I thought it looked better with my car in it. If you want to put your car in it, use on of the links below.
